What has changed in the Australian market?
Check which X1 and backup equipment you are buying
Anker’s current Australian X1 page highlights Power Dock Pro, load-side switching and supported third-party solar charging during outages. These are manufacturer claims for compatible configurations. Ask your installer to identify the equipment required; the X1 name alone does not establish that a quote includes these features.
Battery incentives now reward careful sizing
The Cheaper Home Batteries Program provides support for eligible solar-connected batteries. Since 1 May 2026, the STC calculation applies the full factor to the first 14kWh of usable capacity, 60% to the next portion up to 28kWh, and 15% to the portion above 28kWh up to 50kWh.
The base factor is 6.8 for May–December 2026 and is scheduled to fall to 5.7 in January–June 2027. Installation date determines the applicable factor; booking or paying a deposit does not secure it. The dollar benefit depends on eligibility, capacity and certificate value. These factors are not discount percentages.

What is the Anker SOLIX X1?
The X1 is a modular lithium iron phosphate, or LFP, home battery platform. Its Australian range includes different power and battery configurations, so storage capacity and power output must be checked separately.
Anker promotes app-based energy monitoring, indoor and outdoor installation options and an operating range of −20°C to 55°C. Enclosure ratings vary across the equipment shown on its current Australian page. Confirm the exact datasheet and site requirements rather than applying one specification to every component.

How much battery storage do you need?
Start with the electricity you import after solar production drops and the surplus solar available to charge a battery. Review seasonal bills or interval data where available. A large household does not automatically need a large battery, and a small household can still have substantial overnight demand.

Remember: kWh measures stored energy; kW measures power. A 15kWh battery is not necessarily capable of delivering 15kW. Your proposed inverter and battery combination determines the available output.
Backup power: ask what the quote actually supports
For blackout planning, request a list of supported circuits and the power available to them. Cooking equipment, air conditioners, pumps and EV chargers can place significant demands on a backup system. Stored energy, output limits and starting loads all affect what can operate together.
Existing solar does not automatically keep producing during a blackout. If this is important, ask your installer to confirm the supported solar inverter, backup equipment and operating conditions in writing. For three-phase homes, confirm which phases and loads are covered.

Anker’s Australian policy lists ten-year coverage for specified X1 power modules, battery modules and Power Dock Pro units. Certain accessories have shorter periods. Battery coverage also includes model-specific capacity-retention and cumulative discharge-throughput conditions.
For listed battery models, the policy specifies 70% capacity retention and throughput limits; battery coverage can end when the relevant time or throughput limit is reached. Confirm the policy for the exact model quoted, including registration, operating conditions, exclusions and service-cost responsibility.

A useful savings estimate should account for solar exports redirected into storage, battery losses, import tariffs, feed-in tariffs and the amount of stored energy actually used. Backup reserve settings can reduce the energy available for daily bill savings.
Ask for an estimate based on your data rather than a guaranteed percentage reduction. If someone quotes a payback period, check what purchase price, tariff assumptions and battery usage were used in the calculation.
